The minute you become a Premium member you’ll have FREE access to the WA Keyword Tool. The WA Keyword Tool does just as good a job at keyword research similar like Jaaxy, only that Jaaxy can help you with much more tasks in addition to just finding keywords (for instance : it can help you to see where your site ranks under keywords, to create keywords lists, to find affiliate programs, etc).
How to Use The Keyword Tool
A keyword is a term that people type into the search engines when looking for answers.
As an example, lets’s say that I want to do a research for the term/keyword “affiliate marketing programs” that I’ve got from my search for keyword-ideas in Google (“Google Instant” results).
First thing you go to the Tools at the Side Menu and klik on the Keyword Tool button, and then plug that keyword into the WA Keyword Tool.
What the Items in the Menu means
Searches (AVG in Jaaxy): Ideally you must choose a keyword that gets more than 50 searches per month. These searches will add up as soon as they are ranked.
Competition (QSR in Jaaxy): Look for keywords with under 300 , which means that there are less than 300 competing pages in Google. The lesser the number, the easier to rank. If a keyword has too much competition, you’re not going to able to rank and therefore you’re not going to be getting any traffic.
Article Power: Rated from 1 to 10, it basicly tells you how well your pages and posts will possibly rank.
PPC Power: Very much similar to the Article Power, but used for PPC and Paid Advertisements only.
Dig: When you found a new keyword that you consider to use it, a new search will begin based on this new keyword, if you clicked on it.
WA Keyword Tool is simple to use. All you really need for Google Page 1 rankings is to know the 2 primary metrics that are really important for a keyword research, i.e. the monthly Searches and the Competition, and of course “common sense”.
As you can see, the monthly Searches are great at 5391 (see image above). But after I click on the View Results under Competition, it is too high at 414 (see image below). So now we try to give the keyword a longer “tail” and see what results I can get.
Lets try and see wether by adding two more words, it can bring down the Competition to below 300? … I choose to add the words “for beginners” at the “tail” and it now says, “affiliate marketing programs for beginners”. You will see that the monthly Searches has dropped enormously to 103. It is still a good keyword though as searches are above 50. The Competition has also dropped significantly to 200 which is below 300.
This result looks encouraging, because as I looked at the Article Power number, even though it has dropped a little bit too (from 8.8 to 8), it is still not less than 8, so I may consider on using this keyword.
But if you’re still not satisfied with the new gotten Competition number at 200, and still want to reduce it to a better number, you can try to do so by adding one or two more words in front or at the tail of the keyword (“affiliate marketing programs for beginners”). The longer the keyword the better the outcome.
Long tail keywords have been in demand recently, where most long tail keywords are questions. Long tail keywords make up over 70% of all search inquiries or questions, and convert the most.
You can also try another alternative and choose to add the words “best” in front and “beginners” at the tail so it now says, “best affiliate marketing programs beginners”. You’ll see that the monthly Searches has dropped to 112, and the Competition to 23 which is even better than the first choice …
Whenever you want to do some keyword research, you can create a keyword list to save some of those keywords you found and choose to keep them in one place.
In this sample, let’s say you have selected three keywords that you will use for creating a new post on Affiliate marketing. What you do is place check marks next to each keyword that will be added to the keyword list that you’ve created.
Next, I click the “Save to List” button (top left). This will bring you to the Save to Keyword List notice as seen here in the image below and click on the option button at “Save to New”, and type in the name of your keyword list, then click the “Save List” button.
When you want to add more keywords to the keyword list, you can do so by clicking the option button at “Save to Existing”
View Your Keyword List
To view your saved keyword list just click on “My Saved Keyword List” (top right of screen). This will open your saved keyword list.
You can view your keywords by clicking view keywords (in the Actions column)
