Getting Your Website Ready for SEO

What is Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?

Our biggest dream as we built our content on our website now,  is : how to attain the highest possible RANKINGS in Google or other search engines such as Yahoo and Bing.

Why do you want rankings in the search engines?  Because it is an unbelievable source of FREE TRAFFIC (Actually you’ll never have to pay for traffic if you only understand how to optimize your website and build your content correctly).

This can be achieved through getting your website ready for SEO, i.e. the PROCESS of optimizing your website in order for your website to show up in the Big 3 (Google, Yahoo & Bing),  get ranked under particular keywords,  get a huge amount of traffic which accumulates (snowballing) through time,  and eventually generate a LOT of revenue.

The higher the rankings, the more success you’ll have.

However,  our focus for the most part, is going to be on Google,  as they own more than 2/3 of all search traffic, and over 95% of mobile searches.  Google has billions and billions of users who are actively using their search engine every day, looking for almost everything : from research, to problem solutions, to product reviews, etc …

Your Traffic Opportunity

SEO is a LONG TERM traffic opportunity.  The number of daily searches goes up naturally,  as people become more familiar and connected with more gadgets,  more and more people come and spend time online, searching for things at a higher degree level than ever … This creates an unbelievable growing opportunity for you as an affiliate marketer.

Presently,  Google is getting over 3.5 billion searches per day. That is the TRAFFIC that you can take advantage of.  It’s going to be your opportunity to catch people through the search terms/keywords they typed  in Google,  build trust (through helping them),  and then making recommendations of products/services afterwards.

SEO is a fast progressive process. Search engines change and make updates and if you want to achieve and hold on to your rankings,  you’ll have to be up to date with the latest search engine techniques and strategies as you need to know what they are after.

Setting your website up  ready for SEO

Build out your website in a way that is ready for SEO  so that search engines can find it, and you will see amazing results,  i.e  you’re going to rank  and not just for now, but for years to come. Here is what you have to do …

Head over to the WordPress admin area (Back Office). There are 2 ways that you can actually do it :

(1). You can go to the All in One SEO from the main menu and click on the General Settings menu item (as shown below),

(2). Go to  the Plugins tab down the side,  then go to the  4th link (SEO Settings) and click that.

From here,  go directly to the “Home Page Settings” section, where we are going to add our website title and description for the search engines.

Home Title: Type in the brand name of your website,  followed by an additional text  to make it more captivating,  i.e. to create a bit more interest around your site. In my case, my title is: Affiliate Marketing Newbie.

Home Description: Explain briefly what your website is about and how you want to help people.

Scroll down to the Home Keyword Settings section at the bottom and make sure your settings look the same as shown below.

These keywords aren’t going to rank your site though, it’s really the  c o n t e n t s  that you are going to create in the future  that will be getting ranked.

Now scroll down to the bottom  where you will see a blue “Update Options” button.

Click on that  and your website is now set-up and ready to go for the search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing!

When someone goes to google  and types in your Home Title (in my case  “affiliate marketing newbie”)  and if you do get ranked, this is what’s going to come up or looks like:
